چکیده
Massive growth of the Internet traffic in last decades motivated the design of high-speed optical network for traffic aggregation from different access technologies. The network architecture proposed in this paper is a low-cost flexible solution consisting of two dual buses located over a physical bidirectional ring network topology. OTDM technology is used for statistical traffic multiplexing while reservation-based, token-rotation, and CSMA/CA with a backpressure control techniques can be used for access to the shared medium at the link layer. The presented distributed resilience algorithm is able to automatically restore network functionality in case of single link break or node malfunction. Bidirectional WDM self-healing ring network based on wavelength-interleaved bidirectional add/drop amplifier modules
We demonstrate a cost-effective bidirectional WDM self-healing ring network using wavelengthinterleaved bidirectional add/drop amplifier modules. The measured restoration time was less than 10 ms. Recently, bidirectional WDM self-healing ring (SHR) networks based on bidirectional transmission have been proposed [1]-[3]. In these networks, each node should be implemented by using a bidirectional...

A mesh optical network consists of several cross-connecting nodes (Figure 6.1). Some nodes are O-E-O and some all optical. Large nodes are capable of carrying aggregate traffic at extremely high capacities, and also to add–drop and groom traffic. Each interconnecting link consists of many dual fibers (one fiber per direction), and they include signal conditioners (equalization and regeneration)...
متن کاملThe Ring Loading
The following problem arose in the planning of optical communications networks which use bidirectional SONET rings. Traac demands d i;j are given for each pair of nodes in an n-node ring; each demand must be routed one of the two possible ways around the ring. The object is to minimize the maximum load on the cycle, where the load of an edge is the sum of the demands routed through that edge. W...
